Mexican mole lizards are literally worms with arms and i love them so much
look at this majestic creature
These guys are truly incredible, and incredibly weird.
These guys are part of a clade called Amphisbaenia, which are legless reptiles that generally look kind of like worms. They’re found all over the world and, unsurprisingly, they’re generally called worm lizards. Except… there’s this one genus of them in Southern California/Mexico, Bipes, where a couple of species have actually retained their front legs. That’s these buddies in the photos above: Mexica mole lizards!
Rather than recap everything that makes these guys anomalous and awesome, instead I’m going to link to this great video about them that Bizarre Beasts put out last year. Enjoy!

Welcome to JTV Pokecenter! Please ensure your pokemon are in a carrier, on a leash, or in their pokeballs at all times. Thank you!
Your friendly neighbourhood veterinary clinic is probably the closest thing in real life to a pokemon center, eh? So here are some pics of a few of my patients re-imagined as pokemon. I’ve been meaning to do a mashup like this for a while, but now seems a particularly relevant time.
(And if you ever visit our little clinic with your real life critters, I’ll check out your pokemon as well for free! ;) )

There is a special spot reserved in my heart for Magnificent Frigatebirds. These fuckos are so regal, and they are also ENORMOUS, with a wingspan of up to 8 FEET.
The first time I saw one in person, my brain did a 10-second-reboot because oh neat a pterodactyl just flew overhead–waitwhatnow?
Again, these aerial monstrosities have a wingspan significantly longer than adult human, and in the wild you’ll most encounter them circling high in the air above an ocean coast.
Which is why it was endlessly hilarious to me when I found out what the males look like close up.
My good bitch, I bruised at least three ribs laughing.
